Bored at work 4-1-10

Posted on 8:45 AM by Unknown
I love my job...I really do, I am so appreciative of my boss and how understanding she has been over the last three months. We have been through so much since Christmas and I am pretty sure that if I were employed somewhere else, I would have been fired a long time ago. They told me today that if I don't work more than 36 hours a week that my insurance will be dropped. I really hope that Parker stays well, now that it is warming up a bit. I also have Internet now so it won't be an issue if I can work from home.
As grateful as I am to have such a flexible boss, I would so much rather be at home with Parker, Being here, especially with nothing to do, is so hard because all I think about are the things I could be doing at home or the time I could be spending with my little man. I know for a fact I am not the only new mom that goes through this and I can honestly say that after being home for three months on maternity leave I was looking forward to coming back to work! I guess I am feeling this way again because of the time I have spent at the doctors office and at home. Whenever your pediatrician tells you that your child is picking up cold viruses, RSV and whatever else from daycare which are causing his ear infections, it makes you consider the fact that daycare might not be the best option for your baby. Now I have brought this up to Michael a million times and each time he says "As long as you find a job working from home and can pay all of your bills, that's fine with me" Well! Good luck finding a work from home job that doesn't resemble Avon or Mary Kay...I'm no sales lady. There are pros and cons to daycare of course and whenever I find myself looking for that work from home job I also think about the fact that Parker has friends at daycare, I know he is only six months old but he does! He also needs to be exposed to those germs...to a certain extent of course. So I turn off my computer and think, I like my job and I like the daycare Parker goes to...maybe this will all clear up when the weather is warmer. We'll see...I think four ear infection, RSV and three different antibiotics, including a three part antibiotic shot are just a little too much for my six month old baby!
Since we're on the subject, I was home with Mr. P yesterday because he had fever. Lately he has had a low grade fever at some point during the day, everyday but yesterday morning it was 100.5 and he couldn't go to daycare. I gave him Motrin and three hours later it had gone up to 101.7 so I'm not sure if it was his gums or something else. I watched him all day and never saw him pull at his ears so hopefully it isn't another ear infection. The good thing is, he was fever free this morning!! He is at daycare today and I haven't gotten any phone calls so that is a good thing.
Delana and I took Parker to get his picture made with the Easter bunny yesterday! I was so worried that he would cry and be afraid but he wasn't! Next year may be another story ha-ha.

As most of you know, we began moving back into our house last week. On Wednesday the twenty fourth, I took off of work to pack up the apartment and Michael took the afternoon off to help me move everything to the house. After many trips up and down the three flights of stairs that I definitely will not miss, we managed to get everything into Michael's truck and my car and were on our way home. The manager at Shadow Creek apartments is so awesome, we are so grateful to her for finding room for us there. It took far less time unpacking the cars than it did packing them but it was pretty overwhelming walking in the house for the first time since the mover had been there. We were under the impression that they would try to put all of the furniture in the room it went into along with the boxes but that was not the case. They did put the furniture together and got most of it into the right rooms but the rest was just dropped in the living room. Since then, while I have been home I have managed to get it looking somewhat normal! I got our bedroom and Parker's bedroom done first, then I got the kitchen done. The bathroom is next on my agenda followed by the living/dining rooms which I am sure will mostly be Christmas decorations. While I was getting Parker's room all unpacked I decided I might as well go through and pack away all of the clothes he can no longer wear...it was so sad!!! I looked at the clothes that he was wearing around Christmas and the tornado and realized just how much he has grown since then. There are so many things that were packed in storage that he never got to wear also, and that just made me sad. I just had to tell myself that all of these clothes will be packed away temporarily because Parker will have a baby brother eventually...like years from now :-). I can't say that I am looking forward to cleaning up the bathroom...it is pretty gross in there, when we got home I cleaned it just enough to live in so I need to get in there and Clorox the entire room and get it all unpacked. When all is said and done, I will be happy and proud to show the house to everyone.

It was so hard to see the blessings that would come out of this situation while I was sitting on my neighbors couch, holding Parker and crying my eyes out. A million things were running through my mind from the moment it happened. So I was sitting at the neighbor's house, trying to process what was happening and at the same time, listening to the teenagers freaking out about the cops coming because I am sure they were doing drugs or something when all of this happened, with exception of the one boy who helped me and Parker get from our house to the other, the others weren't trying to help anyone, not worried about whether anyone was hurt...just worried about getting caught doing whatever it was that they were doing. I remember being so mad at them because I knew the sirens they were hearing weren't from cop cars but most likely from fire trucks or ambulances. So I was sitting there thinking the usual, why did this happen, what are we going to do and Belinda came in to get us...she saw me crying and gave me a hug and told me the one thing that I didn't think of until then, my family was alright. No one was hurt and the things that were damaged or lost could be replaced. Over the next couple of weeks she wouldn't be the only one to point this out to me. My family was alright. So now sitting here I see that we were blessed in that way, we are blessed to have such amazing friends and family and we were blessed in the fact that we are now living in a safer and more updated home than we had before.

On a happier note! The weather these last couple of days has been great! I can practically smell the sun screen! I can't wait for flips flops, shorts...maybe...and swimming!! Parker is going to love the pool, as much as he loves the bath, I know he'll be a water baby.

Michael's Birthday is coming up, he'll be twenty eight years old, and he thinks he is getting old! For the last couple of years he has been asking for some kind of hunt for his birthday and this year I thought I would look in to it. My Aunt Donna and Uncle Forrest have a friend that has a lease where you can hunt exotics and told Michael about it last year so I went ahead and made plans to go. I think it is going to be pretty cool, he will get to shoot a Ram and a couple of hogs with his bow! For anyone interested in this sort of hunt the website is keithjohnsoutdoors.com

Until next time, I hope everyone has a wonderful Good Friday and a very happy Easter.

I am sitting in the dark. Parker and I came into the bedroom because I thought he might be ready to settle down and get to sleep, all I can say is THANKS A LOT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME! The time change has caused Parker to be a little off schedule but he finally did fall asleep...after he rolled and turned all over the pack in play. After about 15 minutes or so of playing around he just stopped and I heard him snoring :) Michael came in and turned out the light a few minutes ago so like I said, I am sitting in the dark.

The past...how ever many weeks it has been since I blogged haven't been to over the top exciting, don't get me wrong we have done and been through quite a bit! I guess nothing is really going to get me out of this boring day to day routine except moving back home. I am so tired of waiting for the day to come whenever Michael calls me to tell me they are finally finished and we can move back. He called me today to tell me that the front portion of the house is complete, all we need to do is clean it. He also told me that they finished tiling the bathroom but they need to grout the floor, after that is done the laminate guy can come in and do the counter top, then the plumbers can put the sinks, tub and fixtures in and lastly Robert's guys (the contractor we've been using for the kitchen/ living room) can put the wainscoting up and do whatever else they do to walls before they paint and lastly the painters will paint. It just seems like so much but Michael says he thinks they'll be done by the weekend. I sure hope he is right, it will be nice to be back in our house, in our bed and Parker can get used to sleeping in his bed in his room and get out of this pack in play!

Over the last few weeks we have had a stomach virus, Parker has had a couple of ear infections that came with oral antibiotics first and then a three part shot (one a day for three days), Michael and I had a sinus infection and we are praying that next Wednesday when Parker goes for his six month shots that Dr. Glass doesn't say that his ears are infected again. We have decided if he does we're going to go to an ENT for a second opinion. Other than being sick we have also celebrated Gavin's first birthday and Grandpa's eightieth birthday. It is always nice to see family!

I know we have done more than I am writing about but I'm tired and can't think of it all right now! I will blog again soon and hopefully I will have some pictures! Until then, everyone have a great week.

Update!

Posted on 4:22 PM by Unknown
Today I at work bored out of my mind and was thinking about how I haven't updated in a while. There actually have been things going on for once so I'm going to try to get it all in without posting a novel.

First and foremost, Parker is well! After being sick in January and again the second week in February we are so happy he is feeling better.

The insurance company finally got back to us and they started working on the house last week! I am already excited about a few of the changes being made, like recess lighting where there were no lights to begin with YAY! and they will be covering the paneling that I liked with Sheetrock to make all of the walls match. I can't wait for it all to be repaired and ready for me to pick out everything going back into the kitchen.

Michael Parker and I went to Houston this past weekend to visit with family and friends! We ended up having to stay at a hotel because my mom (MiMi) was sick but we still went for a visit and out to eat with MiMi, Papa Mark, Aunt Donna, Uncle Forrest and Destiny (NeNe). We also got to see Jennifer, Rodney and Kyleigh who just moved back to Texas after being in Florida for a year (Rodney was in the Navy) It was so great to see them and celebrate Kyleigh's first birthday! On Sunday we went with Granny to get her a new cell phone which she needed badly and to walmart so they could get Parker some things :) Thank you granny and MiMi for the clothes and toys! It was a long weekend and we were happy to get back to Lufkin and eat dinner with GiGi and PawPaw before we went home to bed.

Yesterday was President's day and Parker and I stayed home to clean house and rest up for the week, it was SO cold outside!

In other news it snowed on Friday!!! it was so pretty and I wished we could have taken pictures of Parker in it but we were worried about the wind with his tendency to get ear infections. Parker has also started laughing out loud lately and is banging his toys around instead of playing with them :). Since Christmas he has been rolling over onto his belly and holding his head up, we're just waiting for him to start crawling ha-ha I'm sure it will happen soon!

Well until next time, I hope everyone is having a good week!

What a Week!

Posted on 6:25 PM by Unknown
This week has been pretty bad, Parker has come down with RSV which is an upper respiratory infection. I have been home with him since Tuesday and we are hoping he gets to feeling better soon. He has had fever, a cough, and a really runny nose which are all symptoms of this infection. The only symptom Parker does not have is wheezing and I hope he doesn't start. The doctor saw him on Tuesday and didn't see anything wrong and just figured he had a cold. He told me about the RSV that was going around and told me the symptoms to look for just in case and we went on ahead and got Parker's 4 month shots. That evening he started running a high fever and has had fever since then ranging from 103 down to 99. When we took Parker back to the doctor on Thursday we told Dr. Glass what was going on and he ran tests for flu, pneumonia, and RSV and checked his blood count, the tests came back positive for RSV. So here we are! Parker has to have breathing treatments 4 times a day and he gets Tylenol every four hours, not to mention I am constantly cleaning his nose which he hates. This infection is going around here in Lufkin and we found out our friends Clint and Tisha's baby Cayne has it and also our friends Brandon and Amy's baby Delaney has that and pneumonia and is in the hospital. Please pray for baby Delaney. Anyway so that has been our week, I hope everyone is doing well and has a good weekend!

Christmas and a tornado

Posted on 9:03 AM by Unknown
The last few weeks have been pretty hectic! We have had Christmas with the Fairman family, a tornado and then Christmas with The Swearingens and the Hendricks. I'll start with the tornado first. I will be giving a short sweet version ha-ha

On Wednesday the 23rd, we were expecting nasty weather and thunderstorms. The news didn't act like there was anything to worry about, just a normal storm but Michael brought our flashlight into the bedroom anyway. We got in bed, got Parker fed and asleep and then Michael and I started watching a movie. About 20 minutes into the movie the power went out and Michael and I started hearing things fall on to the house, we also heard the wind start to pick up, it just blew faster and faster. Michael immediately told me to get Parker and get into the bathtub. After we got into the tub we heard a big crash, which was a tree falling into the kitchen. Michael got us safely out of the house and we walked a couple of blocks to Tommy and Belinda's truck to get out of there. When we got to the truck we met Delana and Gary who were obviously worried and let them know we were all alright. The next day Michael, his dad and a few of our friends went to the house to cut the trees in the front yard and get our cars out of there. Michael went into the back yard and saw another tree was leaned against the house directly over the bathtub where me and Parker were.

This is a picture of the front of the house, you can see the tree that is leaned against the back of the house.

This is the view from the front door

here is our kitchen

Here is the view from the back yard.

Thank you to all of our family and friends, we appreciate everything you have done for us.
I don't have much to say about Christmas besides that I don't have a lot of pictures of Parker and his gifts ha-ha and the fact that he slept a lot was part of the reason but here are a few pictures I did get, and a few from the hotel.

Parker getting a bath at the hotel, he is almost to tall for his tub now!

Snoozing at the hotel :)

So Long!

Posted on 8:58 AM by Unknown
I know it have been a very long time since I posted, I really have been pretty busy and I just don't think about it. Anyway Parker is now 13 weeks old! He has a very sweet personality, he will "talk" and smile at anyone who talks to him. He is growing so fast too, he weighed 15.5 pounds last weekend and I am sure he is around 25 inches long by now.

A lot has gone on since Parker was 7 weeks old ha-ha, I went back to work and he started going to daycare. That first day was hard for me but I was glad to be back at work. I take him to daycare everyday and Michael picks him up! We also experienced our first fever and hospital visit last weekend, but he is feeling much better now.

On a happier note! Parker had his first Thanksgiving in Houston this year! We all went to Bebe's sister Bobbie's house to celebrate and it was a lot of fun! We got to see Aunt Brooke, Uncle Stephen and Gavin along with some other family that we don't get to see very often! After lunch Parker and I left to go celebrate with Mimi and Pa Pa Mark, we didn't get to eat any of their yummy food because we were stuffed but I found out that Aunt Donna and Great Granny snuck a taste of mashed potatoes to Parker...On Friday Parker and I went to have another Thanksgiving lunch with Great Grandma and Pa Pa and see that side of the family, it was good to see everyone! Saturday was dedicated to shopping...and I mean the entire day! I have never shopped so much in my life! Needless to say Parker was worn out ha-ha but we got a lot done and after we got back to Aunt Donna's we all were ready to go to bed! When we got home on Sunday evening, Michael was so happy he missed us so much and we were glad to be home with him...no Deer though, we're hoping he gets one soon!

Yesterday my Aunt Donna, Granny, Destiny and her boyfriend Trevor all came to visit, go shopping and watch us last night. Michael Parker and I were lucky to get to be a part of A Night in Old Bethlehem. Michael Parker and I played one of the Mary, Joseph and Jesus' of the night. When we got there we got into our costumes and I fed Parker his dinner, we had hoped that he would go to sleep like he normally does but of course he was not interested in eating or sleeping...whenever we got out there in front of everyone who came to see Jesus, he was screaming. After about 5 minutes I guess that felt like 30 one of the ladies in charge asked if she could get anything for him and got his bottle. It was smooth sailing after that! Parker went right to sleep and we laid him in the manger to be oohed and ahhed over :) It was a lot of fun, and I'm sure baby Jesus cried a few times in his life! it was realistic!

Next weekend my family is coming up for our Christmas party! I am very excited, last year went really well and I hope it goes the same this year, I can't wait!

Here are the pictures from last night
