Fall? I Think So!

Posted on 6:10 PM by Unknown
Before I ramble on and on obnoxiously about my favorite season, I am going to let you know what Parker and I were up to this weekend! Michael was out of town for a bachelor party so I have no idea, nor do I want to know, what he was up to. So here is an update on our weekend and then we’ll talk fall!

This weekend Parker and I went to visit my mom. I needed it really badly and I am so glad we went, every one needs their Momma…even when you’re grown up and are a Momma yourself!

We got there Friday evening and got to go out for dinner with both my mom and Mark (Mi-Mi and Papa Mark) it seems that every weekend we go down for a visit, Mark is working so it was nice that we got to spend some time with him. We also saw my brother Robert (Uncle Awesome), Parker was pretty happy to see his uncle and they had fun playing with his phone. If you have an I-Phone, there is an App you can get for free, it’s a cat that records your voice and then copies what you said in a high pitched helium sounding voice…it is hilarious.

On Saturday we got Parker’s Halloween costume, he is going to be a pirate! I wasn’t going in that direction at all but when I saw it I thought he would make an adorable little pirate! Anyway I am going to be channeling my creative side over the weekends leading to Halloween to transform Parker’s Radio Flyer car into a pirate ship! Cute right? I’ll let you know how it goes ha-ha.

After looking at costumes and getting Parker down for a nap after lunch, my mom, Parker and I headed to my Aunt Donna’s house to help Destiny (Nene) get ready for her Homecoming dance. She looked so pretty! Parker was trying to get into that bathroom the entire time and was into EVERYTHING…We had planned on going to dinner with Aunt Donna after she dropped Destiny and Trevor off but the weather was looking bad so we decided to take a rain check.

Even though the weather looked bad my mom, Parker and I decided to go visit my grandpa who is in a nursing home right now. When we got there he was lying in bed watching a football game, he looked so small. I haven’t seen him since last Christmas and I couldn’t believe how skinny and frail he looked. He sat up when we got in there and said hello to us before he looked at Parker and said “Benjamin! How are you?” He had three pictures on his wall by his bed, 2 of Parker last Christmas and 1 picture of me and him on my wedding day. He looked at the picture and told Parker “I say good morning to you every day! I say, Good morning Benjamin and you never answer, but now you can!” Parker was smiling the whole time, it was sweet. We stayed there for about 30 minutes and then had to go because it was late but it was nice to see him.

On Sunday we didn’t do a whole lot, I was dreading the drive home but at 4 I knew I needed to go so it wouldn’t be too late when we got home. I had fun and I wanted to stay longer but that’s how it is every time I visit.

When I got home and got out of the car I almost screamed…it felt SOOOO good!!! I was so excited about the fact that it wasn’t 100 degrees at 6:00 that I asked Michael if we could eat dinner outside ha-ha, he said no of course because we don’t have any outside furniture. We decided to open all of the windows to let the fall air in. It was great!

This morning I was even more excited. I watched the news and knew it would be cool enough for Parker to wear jeans ::eek!:: so he wore blue jeans and a t-shirt and I brought a light weight jacket he got for his birthday to daycare. When I got there I was shocked to see that Parker was the only one in jeans in his class…Oh well I know my kiddo was warm! I can’t wait for it to be cool enough through out the day for him to wear long sleeves because he got a ton of cute clothes for his birthday! I on the other hand…could not find my green long sleeved shirt! I have no clue where it is…it probably got lost in the move back home or is packed with maternity clothes…hell it could be in a laundry basket that has clothes we don’t wear anymore. I have no idea…Obviously I need to use my weekend to clean the house.

I REALLY want to try to get my flower beds cleaned up because OMG weeds have taken over! If the weather stays this nice all weekend I will be setting Parker up in the yard with some toys in baby jail so that we can enjoy the outside air and make my yard look pretty again. Michael mowed yesterday so I need to keep up my part of the yard! I am hoping to get some mums planted where my poor butterfly flowers were…they didn’t stand up to the heat like all of my other flowers did. My Vinca grew and grew! I love them, they are so pretty.

I am so ready for this cool weather to last all day; I can already feel the chill on my nose and ears. I can smell the crisp cool air and hear the crunch of the falling leaves. Just thinking about it makes my heart warm up! I absolutely love fall, it is my favorite season. While I was in Brookshire Brothers this afternoon I stopped to look at their pumpkins, they had some really nice ones, perfect for carving but I know it’s way too soon.

Has anyone ever bought small pumpkins and painted them for their desk? Is that totally corny? I want to decorate my desk but I am on a tight budget that does not include a weekend run to Hobby Lobby, I don’t have any fall décor so at home either so I have to try to be creative. I’ll be perusing some of the craftier blogs and looking for ideas from Country Living Magazine and Martha ha-ha.

Soon it will be Christmas…don’t even get me started on my favorite Holiday season. Holy Cow lets pray that there will be NO TORNADOS this year.

Well friends, I am going to get out of here and go get my little man! Happy Fall!!

Another $25 Down the Toilet

Posted on 8:12 PM by Unknown
It's Wednesday night, Michael is asleep, Parker is asleep and the dogs are barking in the backyard which is driving me crazy. Why must they bark at night?! I mean seriously, there is nothing going on and no reason for them to be constantly barking! They've been known to wake Parker up because of it...I can't wait to have money and buy double pane windows for the bedrooms.

So anyway, enough about the loud annoying dogs...My day was eventful, not in a good way either. It seems like I am always blogging about the same thing lately, Parker is sick. I am tired of saying that. Does it ever stop? Will we get to go longer than a few weeks, a month at most without saying that Parker is sick. I mean for real y'all! I know we're not the only parents who go through this but it feels like we're at the doctor's office at least once a month. He catches this or that from daycare and brings it home and then it cycles through me and Michael and usually back to Parker.

Parker is awake and crying. I'll be right back. Well after a bottle and a lot of rocking and rubbing on his back he is still awake and crying. Tonight is going to be a cry it out night I guess...

Back to what I was saying, Parker got tubes and after having them for about 4 months now he got an ear infection last week. I can't complain about the tubes because they have been wonderful and he's been ear infection free since May, but I hate that my baby is in pain. Since the beginning of the year he has been to the doctor for RSV, Bronchiolitis, over 5 ear infections (Jan-May) fever caused by a virus multiple times, walking pneumonia, stomach viruses...and now that cold weather is around the corner I know we'll be dealing with more. I'm planning on us all getting the flu vaccine with the H1N1 vaccine so we can hopefully be flu free this season. No mother wants to see her child in pain or feeling bad, we want them to be happy and healthy!

I was told today that his ear looked better but not completely healed. I brought him in because of fever, he has been on an antibiotic for almost 10 days and thought it was unusual that he would have fever while on it. Of course it is a virus. I was told to give him the antibiotic until it's gone and we'll go back next week for another check up and hopefully his 1 year shots.

Sorry for this whiny post, I just want my baby to feel better.

In other news, I've been thinking about Halloween and what Parker might be this year! Last year he was only a month and a few weeks old and he was the most adorable little monkey ever. This year we were thinking Batman but that idea may be wishful thinking. For those of you who don't know, Parker doesn't like things on his head. I can get a beanie hat on him or at least I could last year, but anything else gets ripped off and thrown down. This Batman costume requires a mask...I doubt he'll leave it on. My only super hero option is Super Man because he doesn't wear a mask. If I go in another direction my options are limited to an animal of some kind, a cowboy (minus the hat) or some kind of food.

OMG I just had the best idea ever...I can get some glittery powder, gel for his hair and a super cute outfit and he can be Baby Edward Cullen! How cute would that be? No hat necessary! Ok so yeah I bet Michael wouldn't let me get away with that one but it was worth a shot. We could always do Dracula ha!

OK bloggy friends, enough is enough. I am off to bed and I hope to be at work tomorrow because that will mean my kiddo is fever free!

Family

Posted on 6:41 PM by Unknown
This weekend was so nice. We started off the weekend with our normal nightly routine, Michael went to the football game but Parker and I stayed home so we ate dinner, played, took a bath and then got to bed. Saturday morning Michael went to the deer lease to get everything ready for this hunting season and Parker and I slept in. I love sleeping in. After a fun morning of playing and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse I got ready for a baby shower for one of my friends. Michael came home to take care of Parker while I was gone. The shower was a lot of fun and Meagan and Miss Carsyn got all kinds of adorable things. Saturday night Michael and I took a walk in the neighborhood and pushed Parker in his car, he was so cute with his hands on the wheel. We grilled hamburgers and watched Parker play in the carport for a little while before going inside and watching a movie.

Today was so fun, we slept in and played for a little while before we started getting ready to take Parker's one year old pictures. Thank you Callie for taking pictures!

The Paper Mama

I had 3 or 4 pictures to choose from but decided to go with this one. This is one of my all time favorite pictures, Parker was 9 months old in this one and I hope to get another shot similar to this one today for his 1 year old pictures.

Well That Was Unexpected

Posted on 3:49 PM by Unknown
Parker and I had a long interesting day today. The morning started out like every Tuesday morning, I got up, got showered and got dressed before going in to get Parker. He was already up and was crying for me to come get him and when I went in to his room he had pooped all over his crib. I got him out and cleaned him up but he needed a bath so I got him in the tub and cleaned him up. After his bath I called the doctor's office to see if I could move his well appointment to today because he's had diarrhea since Friday. We got the appointment moved to 10 this morning so I made Parker breakfast and we took a little nap before the appointment.

At the appointment I found out that Parker's left ear is infected and that he has a stomach virus. Poor kiddo! So he isn't having an issue with milk WOO! Dr. Glass said it would be best for Parker to stay home and rest so we went to the grocery store to grab food for lunch and dinner and then went home.

I had this thought today that since Parker is one now, I'd let him try a peanut butter sandwich for lunch...this was a BAD idea. Although there are no allergies in either mine or Michael's families, Parker is allergic. I made the sandwich and tore it up into little bite size pieces and let him try it. He spit out the first piece but put it back into his mouth so I just put some peanut butter on my finger and let him taste it...he immediately broke out into hives. There were hives all over his chest and his face was all red and splotchy. I was freaking out. He was rubbing his eyes and scratching his chest, I pulled it up online and saw that he could stop breathing. Of course I grabbed him up put him in the car and drove to the doctor's office.

When I got to the office, the receptionist said there wasn't a doctor there at that time (lunch) and that I needed to take him to the emergency room. I won't bore you with the story of the 3 hour visit but basically I got here with my child covered in hives and was asked to sign papers and then wait...I waited and then was called back to fill out more paperwork and asked to go back and wait some more. After an hour or so we were called back for them to get his vitals, weight and temperature, by this time the hives were fading and Parker was getting antsy. We finally were called back to a room and waited there for another 30 minutes or so before a nurse practitioner came in to tell us not to give him peanuts and to check everything he eats for peanut products DUH...gave us a prescription for Zyrtec.

We finally got home and Parker has been asleep since then! Poor baby boy, allergic to peanut butter, has an ear infection and a stomach virus!

On a happy note...I did lose those 2 pounds that I was trying to get rid of!

It's Party Time!

Posted on 8:45 PM by Unknown
On Saturday we had Parker's first birthday party. It was stressful and hectic but we had a great time and Parker was in a great mood. Tip for parents, make sure the guest of honor has his/her nap before the party. So I don't want to ramble on, all parties are pretty much the same so here are a few pictures.

These first pictures are from Parker's first haircut on Friday.

If he could talk I know he would have said "What is she doing Mom?!"

Look at those long locks

He was so over it right after this picture ha-ha

So Handsome

That's all I will post tonight! I have a few more of Parker with his new rides. He got a four wheeler ride on toy and also a Radio Flyer car.

Good night!

The Big Day

Posted on 9:07 AM by Unknown
One year ago today, at this exact time, I was in tremendous pain. As much as I was trying not to be a wimp, I was crying my eyes out and occasionally throwing out profanities. I'm not exactly sure what I was doing at this very moment, I was either rolled up in a ball crying or I was on my hands and knees hitting a pillow and using the F word a lot. It was not what I expected at all but after 11 hours of labor, some of which was glorious thanks to my epidural, and one emergency c-section later, I was blessed with this little bundle.

This was the happiest moment of my life. When I heard him cry I was overjoyed and I cried too.

The most beautiful face I've ever seen.

My little baby is not a baby anymore. Today he is one year old, this year has been one of the hardest of my life but also one of the most rewarding. I would not trade any part of it for an easier route. We've been through things most people never have to go through and we've been through things that every parent goes through. I think in some ways we got off pretty easily, Parker is the happiest baby I've ever seen. We are so blessed.

So today I will take my big boy to get his very first haircut and then we're going to have a birthday lunch! I will post more tomorrow or Sunday after the party but for now, here is my precious baby on his first birthday.

What Day Is It?

Posted on 7:28 PM by Unknown
It's Tuesday! I totally forgot about McFatty Monday...oh and that post about my weekend. Sorry y'all, I had a busy/fun/exhausting weekend so let me recap!

Friday was great, I worked until three and then decided to go home rather than sit at my desk with nothing to do for another hour. I met Michael at Academy (we'll be seeing alot of this store from now until January) to get his hunting license and some other items. After our shopping trip we went home to drop off Michael's truck and headed out in my car to get Parker. We went out for dinner at Applebeas and then Michael dropped Parker and I at home and he went to watch the football game with his dad and brother in law. All in all Friday was pretty nice!

Saturday started early. Michael left with Stephen (Bro in law/bff ha-ha) to go to the deer lease and Parker and I went over to GiGi's to get ready for our shopping trip. We spent the day in Tyler going to all different places in search of things on the birthday party check list. I was super excited to finally be buying presents. I was sad though because the Converse shoes I wanted to get him were no where in sight ::tear:: so he got lots of clothes, a couple of toys but no adorable black converse. That night we went home and had supper, played in the tub and went to bed. Saturday = AWESOME

Sunday was also jam packed with church, lunch...a nap and then dinner. I love lazy Sundays!

Monday was my cleaning day. I cleaned the entire house, made goodie bags and did laundry. I was freaking out because I HAD TO GET THIS DONE TODAY OR I WOULDN'T HAVE TIME...yeah right. I'm so bad when it comes to things like this. I freak out so easily even when I know everything will be fine.

Oh and about McFatty Monday...another fail. I gained another 1.5 pounds ::sob:: I hate it, I feel like such a loser but it's my own fault for drinking that delicious margarita and eating those delicious fajitas on Saturday...I love Mercados. I could take a bath in those margaritas. SO! I am going to keep trying my best to count those damn calories and I plan on seeing a smaller number next week!

I will try to post my Wordless Wednesday in a timely manner but for now, goodnight bloggy friends and sleep tight!
