Sick and Tired
Posted on 11:42 AM by Unknown
That pretty much describes how I'm feeling today. Parker and I have both had a cough for about a week now and it has only gotten worse. We are home today trying to get some rest, I just got Parker down for his nap about 20 minutes ago and I hope he sleeps for at least an hour. Last night I finally caved and took some cough medicine which of course made me drowsy and when Parker woke up I was like a zombie going into his room. I got him to sleep three times and each time I put him down he rolled over and started crying again. The fourth time he did this I said I love you and left him there, he went to sleep on his own after crying for about 3 or 4 minutes. Needless to say, I was exhausted when Michael woke me up at 6:30 and he told me he thought I should stay home and rest. Parker could have gone to daycare, he isn't running fever but I like spending days home with him. In fact, I am going to take full advantage of his nap and have a nap myself.
As for Tasty Tuesday...I just realized it was Tuesday and have nothing to post! I will try to post my recipe tomorrow.

McFatty Monday
Posted on 4:17 PM by Unknown
I’m feeling rather enormous today. I’m not happy, I look into the mirror and I don’t like what I see. It’s time to get serious here…I can’t keep saying I am going to lose weight and then don't do anything to reach that goal. I joined sparkpeople.com and am tracking my meals. I'm using the meal plan that they offer to a certain extent but I haven't started eating the meals that they choose yet because I need to go to the store. I am going to set up my meals for a week and then use the grocery list that the website provides to get everything I need. I've heard a lot of good things about this program and while my goal MIGHT be unrealistic (lose 30 pounds by September 10th) I am going to try.
If you have a sparkpeople account, lets be friends! My screen name is kswearingen08.

Book Worm
Posted on 4:43 PM by Unknown
You may not know this about me but I am a total book worm. I love to read, I always have. I have considered buying a Kindle or a Nook, these are electronic devices that you download book to…kind of like an iPod for books. I want one because it is cheaper to download the book and can have a ton of books on this one little device, imagine a library in my purse. I keep talking myself out of getting one though and my main reason for not buying one is that I will miss my books. I would miss going to the book store and looking in my favorite section for something new, I would miss the smell. So for now I am old school and I have three or four books in my desk drawer at work that I have read multiple times. I am starting a new book today called Fly Away Home by Jennifer Weiner, if you like Chick Lit you need to read her books. I have every book she has out and I LOVE them all. Of course I have other favorite books/authors too and I will gladly tell you my recommended reads! This list may be long but I promise you will not be disappointed in any of these books.
I am going to list the author and then the books of theirs that I have read with a description.
Stephanie Myers
- The Twilight Saga
JK Rowling
- The Harry Potter Series
Nicholas Sparks
- A Walk to Remember (nothing like the movie, it is so much better)
- Dear John
- The Last Song
I am sure that anything else this man writes is amazing so all in all I would just recommend him as an author.
Jennifer Weiner
- Goodnight Nobody
- Good in Bed
- Certain Girls (The sequel to Good in Bed)
- Little Earthquakes (get your tissues ready)
- The Guy Not Taken
- Best Friends Forever
- Fly Away Home (I am currently reading this)
Emily Giffin
- Something Borrowed
- Something Blue (These two go together They are AWESOME)
- Love the One You’re With
- Baby Proof
- The Heart of the Matter (I haven’t read this but I will be)
Ann Brashares
- The Last Summer (of You and Me) THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS EVER!
This is the author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. I haven’t read those books but this book is her first Adult book and it does not disappoint! I have read it 3 times.
John Grogan
- Marley and Me
Ok well those are all of the ones I can think of at the moment. If you read any of these please let me know what you think! I would so have my own book club if I had time ha-ha I know I’m a dork.
I have some super exciting news! I was a Featured Blog on Top Mommy Blogs today!! On page 6 I am number 150 so keep on voting HERE
Have a great Thursday!

Wordless/ Way Back Wednesday
Posted on 5:01 AM by Unknown
This weeks Way Back Wednesday post is about dance team, cheerleading etc memories. I was on my high school dance team and it was the best time I had in high school! My favorite memories are from our competition, I remember getting dressed and doing my makeup with my best friend Jennifer and us being nervous. We walked around in our green wind suits so we wouldn't show our costumes to anyone else and we always wanted to know what the other teams were wearing. The best feeling in the world was when we walked onto the floor screaming our team chant to let everyone know that we were ready to "bring it" ha-ha After the routine that took so long to perfect and only a few minutes to perform I remember being elated and feeling like no one could beat us! We were first place at all of our competitions.
I was only on the team one year but it was so much fun! I don't have any pictures on my computer of me and Jenn but I do have a prom picture! Consider this my 'Wordless Wednesday" picture as well.
Thanks!

Tasty Tuesday
Posted on 4:21 PM by Unknown
I am sorry to say that I don’t have an actual recipe to share. Forgive me but I have not gone grocery shopping for the week, I will be going tonight though so I promise to post a tasty recipe for you to try either tomorrow or Thursday. So since I have no recipe I am going to share all of the things I want to make A.K.A bake totally from scratch. Don’t get me wrong I will buy boxed mix in a New York minute but there is just something special about making it all on your own. For example, I think I make the best cookies. I use the Nestle recipe and they are delicious, plus I feel proud that I mixed all of the ingredients and they taste so good!
- Blueberry Pancakes
- A Pound Cake (from scratch)
- Bread
- Blackberry Cobbler
- Dumplings for my Chicken and Dumplings (I usually use Mary Bs)
I know there are more but those are the ones I have on my mind right now, especially the pancakes ha-ha.

McFatty Monday
Posted on 4:02 PM by Unknown
I don't want to talk about it.
I would like to talk about my fabulous weekend in Houston! We stayed at my Aunt Donna's house and had to keep Parker on a tight leash...it is not baby proofed in there ha-ha he was in to EVERYTHING. We saw my brother on Saturday but unfortunately I didn't get any pictures. We ate at Red Robin ::YUM:: and I have to say, it wasn't as YUM as I was expecting. Other than eating and hanging out we didn't do much else which is why I don't want to talk about McFatty Monday ha-ha.
Well it's time for me to do my part for dinner and go wake Parker up. I hope you all have a wonderful week.

I Will Not Buy Office Supplies, I Will Not Buy Office Supplies...
Posted on 10:20 AM by Unknown
So I was in Wal-Mart this morning picking up some things for our trip to Houston this weekend and as you know, they have all of the school supplies out. Well you may not know this about me but I LOVE school supplies and or office supplies. I have no idea why but if I'm not monitored I will spend large amounts of money on things I may or may not need. For example, today I was going to buy new folders for my Discovery Toys parties. I may still do this because they are plastic and will last longer than the cheapo paper ones I got at first. I did glance down the aisle and noticed an array of adorable notebooks and binders, they make them so cute now!
I stumbled upon this website at work one day cuteofficesupplies.com and let me tell you, they have some adorable stuff.
Alright, enough with the office supplies ha-ha. Today, I am home to take care of the house and get everything ready for our trip to Houston. I want to say thank you to my awesome bosses for letting me play hookie today, they know I don't have a whole lot to do today so it was no biggie. I love my job. Alright so I am going to print out my usual chore list and get my house spotless, then I'm going to get the car packed as much as I can so we won't be in a rush tomorrow morning. I'll hopefully have everything done before 4:30 so I can go get stinker and we can come home and get ready for dinner at BeBe and T-Paw's house! I love going out of town and coming home to a clean house, it is so nice knowing that everything is done and ready for the coming week and all you have to do is unpack and wash your dirty clothes from the weekend. We'll be staying at my Aunt Donna's house this weekend and I know I could but I don't think I will be bringing my computer. Michael hasn't been to happy with my blog design stuff because I am always on the computer, I know he'll be glad if I leave it home.
Alright well I have lots to do so I will leave you with some Parker cuteness!

Nothing Special
Posted on 5:22 PM by Unknown
Parker moved up to the non infant room yesterday.I'm glad he did because he is ready to be around kiddos who are walking and who are the same size as he is ha-ha but I don't think he has been getting his afternoon nap. Today when we got home he was fussy so we gave him a cup of "milk" and he was good for about 5 minutes. He sucked that milk down like it was nothing, so we gave him another cup full and put him in the high chair to eat some baby cheetos. I don't even know how many he ate, maybe two little hand fulls and he drank half of the second cup of milk and then crashed. It is 7:03 right now and he is usually eating dinner at this ime but I don't want to wake him. I guess when he wakes up later he can have a bottle and hopefully he'll go back to sleep.
Sleep...something that we haven't been getting enough of around here. I don't know whats wrong, if its gas or teething or just seperation anxiety but Parker will go down around 9:30 and will wake up around 11, then 12, then 1 and hen sometimes 4 or 5. It is so exhausting but Michael is trying to help me...9 months without having to help feed because I was nursing has gotten him used to just rolling over and letting me take care of it. It won't and can't be like that anymore, I'm not producing as much milk if any at all and Parker hasn't been wanting to latch on so YAY for me but it's time for Daddy to take some of the late night duties.
As I mentioned before, I started a new blog called Baby Cakes Blog Design, no it has nothing to do with food ha-ha it is where I will show my creative side. I started out by making my own blog design with the free backgrounds from Shabby Blogs and then from that background getting an idea for a header and signature. I've done 6 designs total including the design for this blog and the design blog. Go check them out, I'd be glad to make something for you, just let me know what you want.
My brother is home today! We are all so very happy that he is home and has finished his time in the Marine Corps. Michael, Parker and I will be going down to Houston to visit him this weekend and we are really looking forward to it. Robert A.K.A. Uncle Awesome, hasn't seen Parker in person since he was 3 days old ::sad face:: so this will be exciting.

Mommy Issues
Posted on 4:43 PM by Unknown
My baby is growing up…in two months he won’t be a baby anymore! Tomorrow he is moving from the infant room to the next room up, I’m not sure what that one is called but he’ll be surrounded by kids who are walking. I know this will be good for him and I have realized recently that the issue is mine. I have mommy issues, the issue with him moving up at daycare is no different than the issue I have with him spending the night anywhere…I’m not ready. I need to start thinking about Parker and the benefits of him growing up and taking the next steps in life. I have prepared him the best I can for his next classroom, I have had him in shoes for 3 or 4 days now which he is still getting used to and my mom got him a walker to get him started on that. I was so excited yesterday when he actually walked in it! Although I realized that some changes will need to be made around the house because little man is not as little as he once was and can reach things that he couldn’t before.
I’m not sure when I will be ready for him to spend the night anywhere; I know the grandmas will all be thrilled whenever I am. Michael has also been bugging me about it and I am sure that once I let him go and get that full nights sleep I will be glad I did it.
Thoughts as I Drive to Work
Why is everyone in such a hurry all of the time? I was on my way to work this morning and as usual, I put the cruise control on so that I wouldn’t speed. The speed limit on the road to work goes like this, 55, 60, 55, 50, 45, and then 40. I do the speed limit all the way to work and everyday there are people who are either on my tail the whole way or speeding past me like I’m sitting still! I really don’t like it and I have my moments when I wish they could hear me so I could give them a piece of my mind but really. What is so important that you have to do 70 to 80 miles per hour? If you’d have asked me a couple of years ago I would have just said that I like to drive fast and that the slow pokes need to get in the slow lane! Now that I have Parker I am the total opposite, I try to drive the speed limit at all times and I try to be a safe driver. I also feel like everyone else should drive the same way because HELLO my baby is in the car with me! I remember one trip to Houston, Parker was 6 months old I think and I was leaving town and noticed an 18 wheeler coming up fast behind me. Yes I was in the fast lane and yes I was planning to get over as soon as I could but before I had a chance to do so, this truck was right on my tail. I was so mad, I thought surely he saw the car seat with my precious baby inside and SURELY he understood what would happen if we had to suddenly stop…it obviously hadn’t crossed his mind. He stayed on me until I got over and then sped past me like I was keeping him from something super important.
So as I was thinking about this post (yes I knew I wanted to blog about my thoughts in the car this morning) I thought of this. You should cherish every moment you have with your kids. Play with them because sooner or later they aren’t going to want you to play with them anymore. When you start your baby on solids, let them get messy! They will totally wash, and what’s more fun than a bubble bath? By the way, Parker had raviolis last night and they were EVERYWHERE but he had fun in the tub getting clean! Whenever they want to talk and tell you about their day or even just about something random, listen! At some point they won’t want to tell you anything. Enjoy every laugh and smile, embrace every temper tantrum with patience and understanding and take advantage of every hug, kiss and snuggle before your baby is too big for momma’s hugs and kisses. Time goes so fast and if you don’t slow down to enjoy the little things, before you know it the time will be gone and your baby will be grown up and moving on.
I try to remember this especially when Parker starts getting fussy because I tend to get frustrated and that only makes it worse. I also have caught myself putting him in his exersaucer to do other things…not even important things and I am going to try not to do that anymore. Parker is at the age when he wants his mommy and not just for feeding him and taking care of him, he wants me to play with him and I am going to start making time to do that.
I am hoping to get another blog day going. I think it will be called Tasty Tuesday! I am going to feature a recipe of mine or a family member and my own review of this particular dish! So next Tuesday will be the start of Tasty Tuesday so keep an eye out!
Another update, I have started another blog called Baby Cakes Blog Design! I’m no professional obviously but I like to make my blog look cute and thought that I could put some of my ideas up for others to use! I already did this one, the one for Baby Cakes and also one for Callie who is moving her blog from Tumblr to Blogger Go Callie! So if you’re interested in a new look for your blog and would like to give me an idea of what you want I can try my best to get a design for you. Now, I don’t know any of the code, so I just use a background from any of the free background sites and then make my own Header and Signatures. I upload the header and signatures to Photobucket and then once it is all done I will send you the links for you to put into your blog.
Thanks for dropping by as always! And GO VOTE FOR ME ON TOP MOMMY BLOGS, all you have to do is click that little button on your right once a day! Thanks so much!

McFatty Monday and 10 Monthday!
Posted on 6:25 PM by Unknown
OK so this post won’t be long…I’m not happy and I’m not proud of myself but I can say that I had a great weekend. I GAINED 1 pound. I know, I know, I’m going in the wrong direction. I ate a lot of junk this weekend but it was all so delicious. I won’t say I’m sorry but I do feel bad about it. I had the best hamburger to date at the Silverado Theater on 249 in Tomball, it was so good and the steak fries were delish too…and the mudslide lol other than that meal I had Whataburger and Arby’s *Bad Krista* so yeah, there you have it! I promise to do better this week.
In other news, Happy 10 Monthday to Parker!!! Only 2 more months and he’ll be the big O-N-E ha-ha
He is officially crawling, but when he feels like he isn’t going fast enough he will drop back down and army crawl. He says Bye-Bye and waves (when he fees like it), he said GiGi last night and as you can imagine his GiGi was very excited. He said poo poo while I was changing his diaper ha-ha and he will put his hands in the air when I say “All Done!” after he eats a meal.
Thanks for stopping by, and thank you Tommy and Michael for calling me out on those croissants; keep up the good work ha-ha. Oh and Michael, I love you for getting me a Smart Ones meal for lunch today…even though I almost forgot it, thank you.

Letters
Posted on 3:32 PM by Unknown
I have been sitting here for the last two hours reading my favorite blogs. BTW Please vote for me for Top Mommy Blogs Here and playing around with my blog header (isn’t it so cute!) You too can make a header of your own here at Picnik or you can visit Shabby Blogs and find some adorable backgrounds, headers and extras like dividers and such. I also made my own siggy at Picnik using one of the dividers from SB. So Cute! If you are feeling brave and want me to, I can try to make you a header and signature, just leave a comment and I’ll get back to you on the details. Keep in mind I am no pro but I will do my best and do it for free!
OK so I have decided to use all of this free time to FINALLY post my Letter to my former self. I originally read this on Cleared for Takeoff and thought it was a great idea! She got the idea from Raising Madison who started the blog hop.

Dear 9-11 year old Krista,
You’re only a kid but you have witnessed some things that a lot of people never will. Just understand that it is not your fault that these things are happening and know that it won’t last, you and Robert and mom will get out of that abusive and unhealthy home and mom will find the man she is meant to be with. You will all move in with Mark right before you go into fifth grade and you will finally get to stay in one school. It is here that you will make friends that you keep through high school. Oh and don’t listen to those mean boys who make fun of you and tell you that you’re ugly; I know it hurts your feelings but they will be out of your life before you know it!
Dear 12 year old Krista,
You are officially in Junior High…exciting I know! You are getting braces this year and new glasses which will make you feel better about your appearance. You are also going to meet some of your closest friends this year. Keep an eye out for a girl named Jennifer, she’ll have short blonde hair and sometimes wear a pink dress with white flowers. This girl will be your very best friend for life. Let her know that you’re not snobby because she thinks you are.
Dear 15-17 year old Krista,
High School…Wow. You made it! Over the next four years you will date, dance, get in to trouble, meet your first love, move two hours from home for college and meet the man you will marry.
Let me elaborate,
Sophomore year you are going to get those pesky braces off and feel more beautiful than you ever have! You and Jennifer are going to try out and make the dance team. You will have so much fun and learn a lot about yourself. You’re going to meet boy named John online…I would say don’t waste your time but he was a brief part of your life and an important lesson. You will also meet a guy who lives across the street from Jennifer (she has a huge crush on him) and become friends with him, he’s trouble...you’ll see why.
Junior year a.k.a. “the rebel year”, you and Jennifer will skip a lot of school and pierce your belly buttons…just wait on that last one ok? It is so not worth the pain, if you really want one (and I know you don’t want to hear this) LISTEN TO MOM, she’ll take you to get one when you are older if you wait. Oh and you remember the cute guy that lives across the street from Jennifer? He’s going to be your first love. He is going to make you feel wanted and beautiful, but he is also going to lie to you and break your heart. Please don’t skip out on him, he is a HUGE lesson in your life and part of the path that leads you to the man you’re going to marry.
Senior year, so close to college you can taste it! You and Jennifer will grow apart for a while due to a lack of communication but don’t worry, you talk with her before you both move away for school and it will be like you were never apart. During this time you’re going to start spending more of your time with another close friend, you’ll be her confidant and her shoulder to cry on, and she will do the same for you. DO NOT ROOM WITH HER IN COLLEGE!!!! This will change your relationship with her completely and you will regret it. You are going to hear from that first love a lot this spring and you despite your better judgment you will let him back into your heart only to have it broken again right before you leave.
This is very important so listen up!
You are going to join a blog called Xanga over the summer where you’ll get a comment from a guy named Michael a.k.a. White_Mike22. I know you think he is some weird guy because he is four years older than you but TALK TO HIM! He isn’t crazy, he is the sweetest guy you’ll ever meet and he is going to treat you better than any guy you’ve ever been with. This is the man you will marry so hang on to him and don’t let go.
Dear 18-20 year old Krista,
You are now in college. You won’t be here long if you don’t get your head out of the clouds and back to the books! I want you to at least TRY to go to class; Michael will be there when they are over! I can say this all I want to but you will still drop out and after you leave SFA you will move in with Michael. You will live with him for two years before he pops the question in March 2007. You’ll have a few ups and downs before the wedding but don’t give up, your wedding is going to be beautiful and Michael will be waiting for you at the end of the aisle so don’t stress!
Dear 21 Year old Krista,
When you and Michael go over to Chad and Amanda’s to hang out and you think you can drink with the best of them…YOU ARE WRONG. If you keep on drinking you are going to be so drunk that you can’t walk. You’re going to be sobbing all the way home and asking to go to the hospital. This will be your first and last experience being drunk so it will be a lesson learned.
Dear 22-23 year old Krista,
Don’t be so impatient! I know you have baby fever so take comfort in knowing that this year you’re going to get pregnant and begin the most exciting journey of your life. You’re going to be miserable during the summer no doubt and your feet will look like balloons at the end of your legs but this too shall pass. On September 10, 2009 you’re going to wake up from a restless sleep at 5:30 in the morning to go to the hospital. You will be induced at 6:00 a.m. and go through 11 hours of labor, the first half of that labor will be terrible. You’re going to feel pain like you’ve never felt before and when the anesthesiologist comes into the room you’re going to thank God and tell him you love him. Your sweet baby boy will be delivered at 4:58 by emergency c-section and will be the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen.
The next year is going to be tough, you’re going to be sleep deprived and moody but this is important, don’t neglect your marriage. Michael needs you to be his wife as well as Parker’s mother. I know it gets stressful and you don’t feel sexy but he still thinks you are. Let him know you still love him and want him the way you used to.
On December 23, a tornado is going to hit your neighborhood and a tree is going to fall on your house. You, Michael and Parker will be ok but you’ll live in a hotel room and then in an apartment until March, while your house is being fixed. During this time Parker is going to get sick. He’ll have RSV and 5 ear infections before he has tubes put in his ears in May. Don’t rush him to make those milestones, you’ll soon find out that he is going to do things in his own time, he won’t be your baby boy forever and you need to enjoy everyday with him.
Well that didn’t take as long as I had hoped it would…I guess I’d better go find something to do for three more hours. Don’t forget my Wordless Wednesday post!

New Look
Posted on 6:24 PM by Unknown
So I have been looking for a new blog design for a while now. I never really found what I was looking for so I just did it myself! I absolutely LOVE it! I only wish that it was a 3 column layout so that I could have my side bar split into two and not a million things all on one side of the page. I'll have to see how I can make that work, but for now I have no idea how to do that with the old minima template. Also I am trying to figure out the Pages add on...I can get one page but then I don't know how to add another page and then add content to those pages. So my blog is a work in progress, don't be surprised if you come to it one day and its different.
This weekend was great! I didn't get any pictures but we didn't go watch the fireworks anyway. We basically cleaned house and relaxed until Sunday and then we went over to BeBe and T-Paw's house to eat dinner and visit with Brooke, Stephen and Gavin before the rain started...which is why we didn't go watch fireworks. Parker was so tired by then anyway and we ended up in bed before 10:00. Monday was pretty much the same and Parker and I were home until around 2 and then we went swimming with GiGi. That was pretty much our holiday weekend!
I hope everyone has a great week!

McFatty Monday
Posted on 7:45 AM by Unknown
Alright, today is my first ever McFatty Monday post! I don't have much to say as I am just starting out so I guess this post should be about how I am feeling about my current weight and or shape and what my goals are.
I have decided to do something about my weight, no more excuses. I know it will be hard and I may not so so well at first but I know that something needs to be done. Whenever I was thin and active everyday, I felt better and I had so much more energy. I want to be able to play with Parker and run after him with out getting winded. I would like to weigh 125-130 pounds and just get to a point where I am happy with my body. I am hoping to make running a daily part of my routine and try cooking healthier foods. I know my biggest issue is the amount that I eat, not always what I eat. Making dinner for two is not easy and I always get much more than I really need, which of course leaves me sitting in my chair telling Michael that I am stuffed and I ate way to much. I will also be keeping a daily food journal so I can see what I am eating and see where the problems are!
So there are my goals and some of my strategies so we'll see how I have done next Monday!

Eye Candy

ECLIPSE WAS A.W.E.S.O.M.E!!!!!!! If you haven't seen it GO NOW! I didn't brave the midnight showing but I did go to see it last night. I thought it was by far the better one out of the three and I am ready to see it again ha-ha. There are differences from the book obviously but they made sure that all of the major points were in the movie. Of course I always go into the movie thinking that everyone has read the book and then hear the sounds of shock whenever Jacob kisses Bella.
Alright enough Eclipse talk, my little stinker is feeling better today, his fever is down but I am still going to give him some Tylenol this morning to keep it down. I am hoping that the fever stays down so that I can go back to work tomorrow and he can go back to daycare.
My house is a total pig stye...I don't feel like cleaning today but I'm sure I will take advantage of Parker's nap to at least straighten up. Whenever Michael and I win the lotterythat we don't play I am so paying someone to clean my house.
I hope you all have a great Thursday!
