Bye Bye Week 3

Posted on 7:49 AM by Unknown
I'm afraid I'm relapsing. Not with the weight loss, with my health, and I'm not happy about it.

I was beginning to feel better around the end of the week and this weekend but this morning when I woke up I felt absolutely terrible! I want to go home and crawl back into bed. Think no energy, weak feeling, sinus headache, sinus drainage, cough, sneezing, aches and super sleepiness...thats me.

In happier news I am glad to report that my weight loss is still on track and while I don't feel great, I'm still keeping up with that. I got up on Sunday morning and waited for Parker to see how much he weighed (so stinkin cute) and then it was Mommy's turn.

I was afraid because of the KFC I'd eaten both Friday and Saturday night and hoped that I hadn't gone overboard. I ate the right amounts and still had points left over at the end of those days but I felt so guilty for eating fast food.

Anywho I stepped onto the scale and was so happy to see that I'd lost another 1.5 pounds! I am officially down 6.5 pounds since starting and seeing that makes this process so worth it. So what if I can't eat french fries!

I find myself looking forward to wearing shorts and cute tank tops this summer, to wearing a tankini to the beach and not feeling ashamed that I'd let myself get this way or self-conscious about how I look.

I caught myself saying things like "I can't wait for warm weather and to go shop for cute summer clothes because I AM going to be 30 pounds lighter!"

So begins week 4 and I am going to do my best to stay on track. The Super Bowl is this weekend and you know what that means...JUNK FOOD. Lets hope I can find some yummy healthy Super Bowl party menu items.

How did your week go? Are you looking forward to the end result? Do you find that there are things you used to eat that you really don't care for anymore?

Have a great week and keep your eye on the prize!

A New Way

Posted on 1:05 PM by Unknown
Having a kiddo with allergies is not easy. We're very lucky that he only has the 2 but it's going to be a big change around here without our eggs.

This weekend I really wanted to make some pancakes for Parker, he loves them...so I was on a mission.

I found a blog called Art of Dessert and there it was, an easy no fuss no muss way to make egg free pancakes!

I mean seriously...who wouldn't want to try pancakes that look this delish right!

I added the blog to my Google reader, became a follower and then added the page with the recipe to my favorites. This blog has so many other recipes for egg free baking I LOVE IT.

This recipe replaces the egg with orange juice. If you've ever made pancakes from scratch you know how super easy they are.

I got out the recipe and got to work. After only 15 minutes or so Parker and I were enjoying our egg free pancakes! They were super yummy.

Oh and if you're on Weight Watchers like I am and you want to have these for breakfast, one pancake (1/2 cup of batter) is 6 points. I have entered the recipe on the website so just search "Egg Free Pancakes" to add them to your tracker! I ate two and was stuffed, hey I was treating myself but we'll get to that in my McFatty Monday post!

So! Here is the recipe.

Egg-free Pancakes

Makes about 8-9 pancakes, 5 inches in diameter

Allergy Note: contains wheat and dairy ingredients

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup melted butter

Cooking Instructions:

Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, oil and orange juice. Slowly add in the melted butter. Pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto a hot nonstick pan. (This batter is tends to bubble up and thicken due to the baking powder. You can gently stir it to break down some of the bubbles to bring it back to a pourable consistency.) Cook until you see a few bubbles rise to the surface and it's dry around the edges, then flip over to cook the other side until lightly browned. Serve with butter and maple syrup or whipped cream and fresh fruit.

A Great Saturday

Posted on 12:25 PM by Unknown
We had a great weekend, Michael went to the deer lease with the guys so it was just me and Parker. On Friday night we went to a jewelry party where Parker flirted with every woman there ha-ha.

I always have trouble sleeping when Michael is gone but we did ok. Michael is home now and we were both SO happy. Parker immediately reached for Michael when he walked through the door. He adores his Daddy.

So I wanted to tell you about our Saturday, it was such a beautiful day out so I made sure that Parker wasn't cooped up in the house.

I took over 80 pictures but I've put my favorites into collages so you can see how much fun we had! Sorry for the fuzzy ones, this kid is always on the move!

Breakfast time! Yummy Oatmeal. He also had a bath  but we didn't take pictures.
After his bath we played with some of his toys.
We headed outside next to enjoy the warmer weather, Parker was all over the place!
After about an hour of playing outside we were pretty hungry! While I cooked, Parker colored a picture. We had some grilled cheese sandwiches and chips.
It was nap time after we finished lunch. Looks like someone didn't want to go to sleep at first, but he finally did and was much happier when he woke up.
Since it was so nice out I decided to call GiGi and see if her and Sean (Parker's cousin) wanted to meet us at the park. After a quick snack Parker headed over to the slide. He loved the slide but gave the swings a try too.
After a few times on the "baby slide" Parker decided to try the big slide. Needless to say, it was a big hit. He also made a new friend and while chasing each other around, they got a bit dirty. Boys will be boys!
When it started getting dark, GiGi and I decided that we should go to the mall. They have a little play area there that was ok for Parker. We were only there for a few minutes before the Momma Bear in me came out. Some people either just don't care or don't pay attention to their kids. We moved to the quarter cars where Parker wouldn't get run over or knocked down.
When the boys were tuckered out we headed home to eat dinner and have another bath before bed.

It was a great day and I know we'll go back to the park. Sadly it's raining and nasty outside today but maybe another weekend.

Hope you all had a fun weekend!

What's on the Menu?

Posted on 5:04 PM by Unknown
Not peanuts and not eggs.

So today we went to the allergist and after 3 hours of testing and waiting we finally had some answers. My baby is allergic to peanuts (which we knew) and EGGS. I was so shocked about that! I've been giving him eggs and products with eggs in them since he was 1 and maybe even before then.

We are going to be making many changes in our diet and hopefully with time Parker will out grow all of these allergies.

The appointment was long, it took 20 minutes for each test. The first test was done on Parker's back, the nurse drew dots and numbers down his back. After that she placed drops of each allergen (16 foods and 5 airborne) next to each dot. She then used small scalpel things to "scratch" his back. It looked more like poking to me. I was surprised that Parker didn't cry during this process but he was such a trooper!

After waiting for 20 minutes the doctor came in and looked at the spots. Of course the peanut looked like a huge mosquito bite and the egg looked the same, just not as big.

The second part of the test was worse. The nurse came in and gave him 6 shots of airborne allergens to sit under the skin. They looked like little bubbles, and Parker did cry this time...a lot. I felt terrible!

After another 20 minutes the doctor came in and looked at his arm and left. We waited a while for her to come back and explain and when she did it was a mix of relief and worry.

How are we going to feed our child while leaving egg out?! EVERYTHING HAS EGG! Right now we're trying to learn as much as we can and make adjustments. I know we can do it though!

So we're starting a new journey! If you have a child with allergies or have any knowledge in that area or even if you know some great egg and peanut free foods feel free to comment or email me!

McFatty Sick Day

Posted on 12:51 PM by Unknown
I'm sick...and tired. I want to go back to bed and I probably will because I'm so light headed I don't even want to move.

I'm on antibiotics and OTCs right now to get rid of this mess but it just sucks! It's also raining and nasty outside and that makes me more sleepy.

I hope none of you are sick, If you are I'm so sorry and I hope you feel better soon.

Anywho I don't want to leave you without my McFatty post so here it is.

Yesterday was weigh day but I didn't track it. I was at my Aunt's house and refused to believe what her scale told me. I was glad this morning too because boy was her scale off!

This morning I got up and got on my scale, it read 155.0! I've officially lost my first 5 pounds! I was so happy to see that and it makes me feel great to know that even though I only lost one pound this week, I'm closer to my ultimate goal.

I am now on week 3...I think ha-ha and I hope it's as good if not better than last week! I'm making my grocery list now and am planning out our meals for the week.

This week my biggest problem was eating out. I didn't think about that until we were on the road to Houston and needed to stop somewhere for dinner on the way.

We ended up at Burger King and while I got an unhealthy Whopper with cheese and french fries, I only ate 2 or 3 bites of the burger and a few fries. To say the least, I was totally disgusted. It was the worst burger I've eaten in a long time. I was happy to know that I had points left over that day and wasn't really hungry anyway.

Saturday I ate cereal and then snacked on crackers and goldfish snacks in the car. When we finally ate "lunch" at 4:30 we went to a barbecue place and I ordered chopped beef and sausage. I ate all of the beef and one piece of sausage and ended up still having points left over at the end of the day. I think that was because we didn't really eat lunch.

All in all it was a great week and I feel like this week will be another good one, I just need to concentrate on getting well.

Do you have these same problems? Do you have any tips on eating out and staying in your points range? Did you reach your goal for the week?

McFatty Monday

Posted on 7:21 AM by Unknown
I realize today is Tuesday...I meant to write this post on Sunday and then post it yesterday morning but hey, that's life.

So I feel like week one went pretty well, I didn't quite reach my 5 pound goal but I was close. I only lost 1.5 pounds but I technically was on week 2, I just hadn't been tracking I was only eating less. Anyway total I've lost 4 pounds so I am going to smoosh those two weigh ins together and call them week one. You can call my a cheater if you want to, I don't care!

I admit that I had a few moments where I slipped this week. I ate a piece of cake and a cookie here and there but I don't think it was enough to really make a huge difference.

I went to the grocery store last night though and got some items to help with my snacking and my ice cream addiction. Those WW ice cream cones are good!

My goal for this week is to stay on track. I am going to say no to temptation and really try to stay within the correct portion sizes and to track points before I make my meal plan. I had a few days last week where I was literally tracking everything to see if I could eat it because I only had a few points left.

I also hope to start walking/running this week if I can get anyone on board. I am afraid to go alone and with the weather nasty, I'm not sure anyone will want to go with me. I plan to do the C25K program to build up my stamina and get myself running again!

What are your goals for this week? Did you reach last weeks goal? What kinds of exercises do you do? Do you have any tips or food secrets you want to share?

Hormonal?

Posted on 7:50 AM by Unknown
Warning: this is a whiney post and is mainly for me to "let it out"

I think I need to take a chill pill or something. I'm seriously sitting here upset because people don't like my quickie haircut. I was so proud of myself and the job that I did and now to hear that people don't like it just hurts my feelings.

Is that stupid?

I know one thing. Next time I'll just waste daycare/food money at the salon so I don't have to hear that "it will grow back"

Lazy Saturday

Posted on 5:03 PM by Unknown
I had so many plans for today...Isn't that how it always is though. I always make big plans for every weekend and then when the time comes to do these things, they almost never get done.

I planned on cleaning the house and getting all of the laundry done. I hate cleaning the house...If I had the money I would totally hire a housekeeper. I think all working moms would lol.

So anyway, I'm still in my PJs with dirty hair and you know what...I don't care! I'm sitting in my recliner watching Parker run around the living room, dragging out toys I just put away. Michael is home and sitting next to me and we're all just relaxing.

I didn't just sit around all day though, I cooked breakfast for me and Parker, we played, I gave Parker a haircut, cooked lunch, read a story, danced, put Parker down for his nap, watched a movie and ordered dinner!

Before his haircut this morning. He was having a bad hair day ha-ha
Right after his cut and a bath
Getting messy at lunch.

The look. I think he was tired of me taking pictures and making faces at him ha-ha.

So that was pretty much my day. I hope I have more motivation tomorrow!

It's Not You' It's ME

Posted on 7:57 AM by Unknown
But you could stand to lose a few pounds yourself.

Being on a diet is hard, not just because of the changes you have to make and the choices you have to make to stay on track. It is made much harder whenever you live with other people who are not dieting with you.

Michael, Parker and I go over to my father in law & step mother in law's house once a week for dinner. Well last night while we stood in the kitchen helping Tommy get everything ready for Belinda to cook, Michael made the comment that he was on a diet.

I would have been so happy to hear those words had they not been dripping with sarcasm. He was totally kidding around but he was complaining about the changes that I had been making. I have no idea where he was getting that from, I still cook the same foods, I just eat less of them or substitute something on my plate for something else. No changes to his meal what so ever.

So I of course defended myself telling Tommy that Michael was being a pill and that he was not on any diet. That there were no changes made to HIS meal plan. Tommy made me so happy when he looked Michael in the eye and said "you could stand to lose a few yourself son." I laughed so hard...it's true though.

I really hope that I can get Michael on board with this, I am not happy with my weight and I don't want to look or feel the way I do anymore. My journey would be much easier if he would just play along.

Just So Ya Know...

Posted on 7:51 AM by Unknown
I am keeping a blog on my WW profile. Don't be surprised if you see a lot of posts about my WW journey. I'll save the important info for McFatty Monday but it will be nice to get feedback from y'all as well as WW friends.

Here is today's WW post.
So I was all excited about the good food day I was about to have. I packed my left over venison spaghetti, a baggie with a piece of garlic bread and then headed out. Well not until I got Parker up, gave him an unexpected bath, got him dressed and into his coat. After all of that, we left.

I ate one waffle on the way to daycare/work and decided that I don't deserve to starve until lunch! I went to the grocery store and got a bowl of cut, ready-to-eat peaches that were actually 2 points according to the nutritional info. I also grabbed a few bananas yum!

I got to work and got on WW online to track my points for breakfast and then went on ahead and put lunch in to. I was shocked. After my healthy (or so I thought) breakfast and my left over lunch I only had 11 points left! That’s all I had for dinner, a dinner I was unsure of. We are eating at my father in law's house tonight so while it will be delicious, I have no idea how many points it will be.

I decided to do the right thing. I threw out my beloved garlic bread. If you knew me you would know that I love bread. When we go out to eat, you'll often hear me categorize each place by their bread. Point being, throwing bread away is a NO NO for me. DON'T WASTE THE BREAD FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

Ok so I'm being dramatic but you get the picture. I chunked my bread -tear- and I will live without it! but I still have to figure out the points or a safe portion size for dinner tonight.

Oh and I cheated this morning and weighed, I'm at 155 so I reeeally don't want to **** it up for a piece of garlic bread.

Money Money Money! Money!

Posted on 6:53 PM by Unknown
No I don't have any but I did notice that my blog post titles have $1 on either side...weird. Am I the only one seeing that? Random!

So I am super sorry for being somewhat absent here recently. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I don't have my computer right in front of my face anymore. I used to keep it on my TV tray next to my recliner (I promise I'm 24...not 54) so if I felt the need to jot down my thoughts it was right there. Here lately it's been all over the place, I found it in the bedroom this weekend. Apparently Michael decided to take defensive driving in his jammies, under the covers, in front of the tube.

So anywho that's that and here I am!

If you read my last couple of posts then you know, I have joined Weight Watchers. I'm really enjoying the ease and simplicity of it. There are so many tools and so much information that you can't go wrong.

I am going to get back on track with McFatty Monday so that y'all can see my progress. I'm going to post a new picture on my McFatty Monday page so I have something to compare with and I might even post my graph so you can see my progress.

I really hope that by doing this I can not only change my eating habits, but Michael's as well and ultimately teach Parker good eating habits along the way. I know we aren't the healthiest people but we're not bad, I think we just eat to much.

Whenever the weather warms up to at least 60, I plan on trying the C25K program along with WW just to kick things up a notch. I might not do it every night but hopefully I can squeeze some kind of activity into each evening.

Here's to a new hotter healthier me in 2011! Is anyone else doing a weight loss program to kick of 2011? If so what are you doing? Would y'all like for me to include a recipe in my McFatty posts?

I promise to update whenever something actually happens around here. It's been kind of routine around here...other than our dogs feeling super special for getting to come inside this week. It's so stinkin' cold y'all!

Lunch

Posted on 11:43 AM by Unknown
So I've had this Campbell's Tomato Soup in my drawer at work for God knows how long and thought today would be a great day to eat it. Wrong!
It's in one of those microwavable bowls, so I popped it in and waited the minute and fourth five seconds it takes to heat up. I brought it back to my desk, got my book opened and took my first bite.

"This does not taste right..." that's what I thought after I swallowed it. So me, being the expiration date checker in the family, I picked up the bowl and there it was September 12, 2010. Are you kidding me?! Does soup even go bad?

I called Michael to confirm. Of course he said he wouldn't eat it. So here I am starving and trying to find something to nibble on while staying within my remaining points...yeah right. I realize that the 13 point Starbucks coffee was a bad idea, I know! I knew it would blow my points for the day but I got it anyway and now I'm sitting here with an empty growling stomach.

I wonder if my Wheat Thins are stale...I should really clean out my desk drawer.

A New Direction

Posted on 7:23 PM by Unknown
I have decided to take my weight loss (or lack there of) in a new direction, hopefully that direction will be down!I have joined Weight Watchers, I know I can lose weight if I watch what I eat and how much I eat. Doing those two things alone caused me to lose those 6 or 8 pounds last time. So tomorrow I will weigh and lock it into my chart and then begin my weight watcher journey. Wish me luck!
