A Little of Everything

Posted on 4:03 PM by Unknown
I’m in a funk today…not sure why, maybe it’s the weather. Maybe it’s the fact that no matter what I do it never seems good enough. I knew we were going to have a tough time financially when we decided to have Parker. I knew that I needed to get a better paying job, so I did. I transferred to Diboll and ended up loving my job here, the pay isn’t much more than I made before, but it is more all the same and how often do you find a job you actually don’t mind getting up to go to? I have been job hunting for a few months now, unsuccessfully; I’m not going to lie. I haven’t really been looking as hard as I could, but I AM looking. I found a TON of jobs that I know would pay great but I’m not qualified for them and the ones I am qualified for I didn’t get any interviews for.

I am selling Discovery Toys now, which I am actually very excited about! My first party was last night and I have to say that even though only two people showed up for it (my momma in laws) I did well, I made around $50 in commission. I was happy about how it went and considering the nasty weather and it being a Thursday I wasn’t very surprised about the turn out. Of course I knew Delana and Belinda would come, which I am so thankful for. They also agreed to host parties of their own which will help me out a lot, I know their friends would be more comfortable going to a party at their home instead of mine. Anyway so I am looking forward to my second party on Saturday and hope that the turn out is good since it is the weekend. I am also trying to get a couple of parties in the works in Houston this month one for a friend which she will host and the other a Mystery Hostess party in which I will do a big drawing and the winner gets all of the hostess benefits.

It’s not like I’m not trying here…

So I’m sitting at work, wishing I was in bed because I am in such a cruddy mood. Parker didn’t want to get out of bed either but once he was with Cayne at daycare, he was all smiles.

I guess I will take this time and catch everyone up on the goings on of our little family. We haven’t done a whole lot in the last couple of weeks but I have some pictures and videos that I wanted to share. Since my last post, Parker has done some pretty neat things! He can clap his hands, which he does whenever he is happy or when we sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands!” You can see it for yourself below.

I thought I could add a video on here...guess not!

OK I just want to add a side note, I am typing this at work on Microsoft Word and it is telling me that in the following sentence “If You’re Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands!” that I should change “You’re” to “You is” so that would make the sentence “If You is Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands!” Wow…that is all I can say.

Parker has also turned into a scooting machine! He is still trying to figure out how to crawl on his hands and knees and has actually crawled a couple of steps (I guess is how you’d put it) and after that he looks up, makes a pitiful noise like he wants to say “help” and then drops onto his belly to army crawl to his destination. He is quick too! He has been half naked all weekend/week and has a red rash on his belly which I think is from all of his scooting. I call it his road rash ha-ha. Along with the “crawling” he is also pulling up. He of course only pulls up on the unsteady and dangerous things, the TV trays, the fireplace, a wooden box with VHS movies in it. The first thing he pulled up on was the coffee table. I was so excited that he had done it, I didn’t think about the fact that he was heavier than the table. I didn’t realize until I saw the table slide backwards and saw Parker lean forward and then fall to the side, bumping his chin on the corner of the table and bonking his head on the floor. This all happened about a foot from me of course. So as soon as it happened, I was there picking him up and kissing the boo-boos and checking him for damage. Let me just say that Parker is all boy, he cried for a few minutes I think more because it scared him than anything else and then he was done. I put him down and he went right back to it! So needless to say we have moved the coffee table out of the room.

When Parker got his tubes last month I thought, thank God! My baby will finally get a break from being sick! Well as luck would have it, even though it is 100 degrees outside, Michael got strep throat last week and because it was inevitable for it to be passed on to everyone in the house…Parker got it too. On Saturday night when I woke up to him crying, he was so hoarse and was coughing pretty bad so I knew that he probably had strep. Michael felt terrible about it but there wasn’t anything any of us could do. So we took him to the doctor and got him some antibiotics on Tuesday. I am glad to say that his fever is GONE and I hope the cough is on its way out also. While we were at the doctor’s office they weighed and measured him, he is 23 pounds and 29 inches. He isn’t going to be happy on the 10th when he has his shots!

I can’t believe my baby is going to be 9 months old next week…He’ll be one year old before we know it! I have to admit that I have already started getting his birthday party plans together. I have the invitations and decorations picked out and I have an idea of how I want the cake to look so I just need to get everything ordered and make my guest list and that kind of thing decided.

Well I guess I should get back to work! I will post again soon.
